IN MEMORIAM STEFAN WASYLUK 08/06/1926 - 06/07/2003

As often happens, some sadness enters our lives unexpectedly. This year we were very saddened, when our friend and brother-in-arms Stefan Wasyluk passed away. He was a U.S. Army veteran from the Korean war serving with the 25th Signal Battalion. It is especially disheartening for our post, since he is our first member to leave this world behind.

Our post commander Walt Chyterbok gave a very heartfelt eulogy at Stefans’ wake. Members of our post bid him a sincere farewell with a final salute in front of the casket. His family requested an honor guard at the cemetery which our members were honored to fulfill. The flag that draped his coffin was folded by our post members and presented to his family.

Respecting his final wishes, his family made a generous donation to our post.

During one of our general meeting, we held discussions on how best to utilize this donation for the benefit of the post and remembering Stefan. It was agreed by the members present that we would purchase our own Ukrainian flag and have a battle streamer attached to our post colors in Stefan Wasyluks’ memory.
