| Volume 1– Issue 1 Page 8 Ukrainian Days at Smith's Park What started as just an idea turned into a successful weekend for our post. This year Ukrainian Days were held on the 29th and 30th of August. Two tables were donated to our post by the event's organizers, the Ukrainian Congress Committee of Chicago. For this we thank them. On both days, Adam and Veronica Bihun arrived early to set everything up and stayed late to breakdown. Our booth really looked good. On dis-play were military unit parches, sabers, mock-ups of an M-16 and AK-47 rifles, an array of flags, out post picture books and a small memorial. On Sunday, Peter Hanchar brought his impressive collection of Ukrainian medals. There were 2 main reasons for participating in this event. The first goal was to promote the UAV and our post. We had the opportunity to talk about our activities and plans and signed up several new members. The second was to raise money. Our T-shirt and CD sales were very success-ful. Financial results will be discussed at an upcoming general post meeting. The U.S. Army was also present in conjunction with our post and had a recruiting station set-up. Thanks to Michael Chyterbok for initiating this effort and to Walter Chyterbok for coordinating the details. Both the Army and Post 32 were invited to participate again next year. On Sunday, our post formed a color guard for the opening ceremonies. Thanks to everyone who participated and helped make Ukrainian Days a successful even for out post.
