![]() Veterans Day Post 24 members took part at the Veterans Day program on November 11th in Cleveland’s City Hall rotunda. Mayor Jane Campbell and Captain Wayne Buchanan were the main speakers. Captain Buchanan, USCG, is the commanding officer integrated support command in Cleveland. Laying of the wreath, playing of Taps, and a 21-gun-salute capped the ceremony. Sunday, December 7th the annual Pearl Harbor Day program was held at 11 a.m. at the Naval Reserve Center in Cleveland. The event included a ceremony honoring Pearl Harbor survivors, a wreath laying ceremony at the U.S.S. COD submarine, the unveiling and dedication of a Pearl Harbor memorial Marker by the Early Settlers Association of the Western Reserve and dedication of the Admiral Issac Kidd Ohio Historical Marker. Kidd, who was born in Cleveland, died aboard the U.S.S. Arizona in 1941 during the Pearl Harbor attack. He was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Post 24 members took part in the ceremony and the luncheon afterwards. |
